Witch Tip #5: Take a Tarot Break
If you ever find yourself in analysis paralysis, or your afternoon slump, keeping a tarot deck on your work desk is a multifaceted way to keep moving while making your life just a little more magical.
I am a witchy content editor and podcast producer by trade, so I often work many blissfully creative hours at my desk to suddenly hit wall. Sometimes the wall has to do with the work itself, where I’m internally debating how many “ums” to cut our of a podcast episode to help the speaker come across as engaging, yet still conversational. Or, I hit a wall that has entirely to do with the fact that I am working on a deadline on too little sleep. In both these scenarios and in countless ones in between, I turn to tarot.
I keep at least one tarot deck on my desk at all times, because I’ve found that a quick card pull can be the answer to literally almost anything. I’ve had my deck tell me everything from “it’s time to wrap up for the night” (the hermit), to “get a cup of coffee and power on” (strength), to “you need to totally change your perspective on this” (hanged man).
Like many witches, cartomancy has been in my toolbox for decades, and I still find there is so much to learn about the tarot deck specifically, so this tip doubles as an opportunity to get in a little rapid-fire tarot practice throughout the day. This is also a great way to “get to know” a new-to-you deck or to reconnect to one from your shelf that you may have felt disconnected from lately.
A check-in with one’s intuition through this beloved divination practice might just be the magic your workday is missing.
